♥ A Never Ending Dream

Every scorching month of March, Filipinas celebrate Women’s Month as a symbol of their liberation from the typical Maria Clara, passive image. Every field of expertise today, we can always discover that one way or another there is a woman working behind that curtains. Filipinas had reached the new height of imagery from men in our country but is it worth the price?

Living with a registered social worker (my ate. .) I have learned that every pride that a Filipina make and takes there are still ironies in it. The Philippines is one of the most women-friendly nations in the world. We have lots of Philippine Laws today that protect women in the society. There’s R.A (Republic Act ) 9262: Violence Against Women and their Children, RA 8353 Anti- Rape Law, R.A 7877 the Anti-Sexual Harassment law and Anti Trafficking in Persons act or RA 9208. The list could go on for another paragraph or so that can amazed any feminists around the globe but the really sad part of the story is that more and more Filipina women became a victim every year. She could be our friend, relative, neighbor and even one family member. She could either be the posh young lady wearing that flossy suit or that simple vegetable vendor in the market. And why is that so? Because the machismo attitude among Filipino men are still irreplaceable even the new technologies of today. Filipino ego might compete with Mt. Everest in altitude and its humongous size could match the continent of Australia! I’m not being a feminist or the like but this is the reality that I perceive. Every law has loopholes and bloopers. . and why is it so? Most of our statesmen. . well are Men!

Despite the fact that in every angle Filipina may seem “dehado” in every game, we stood proud in the ground that what men can do we can also do and surpass it. We should always find time to fight for our right and fulfill our dreams without what ifs and buts. We should step outside the shadow of discrimination. We should always think that we would always be the equal of men; We Filipina should not sleep in our boudoirs but always awake by the dawn. . of the new beginning of equality.
